We have been supporting the education of Tibetan children in a remote region of Tibet in Kham district, and providing the children with two hot meals a day.
The meals are very important as many walk for more than an hour over rough terrain and in freezing weather to reach the school, and as they come from poor families the dinners are very important to sustain them.
So in addition to the teachers and upkeep and improvements to the school buildings we also fund the food and the salaries of the cooks.
YOUR SUPPORT ALLOWS OUR WORK TO CONTINUE FOR ANOTHER YEAR -
In 2006 we began the funding of the children’s meals in addition to paying the teacher’s salaries.
In early 2007, the new school buildings were completed (see photo above right). The school now comprises three classrooms, one room for the headmaster, one kitchen and one storage room.
In the summer of 2007, works started for a building to house some of the teachers and is now complete.
By 2012 the new concrete playground was completed, providing a safer all-
Each year we hope to meet the needs of the school and hopefully make some more improvements possible by helping with the costs of raw materials for the building work, which is mostly carried out by volunteer labour from the village community.
