Ladakh Floods Appeal – helping Tibetan communities in India and Himalayas
A REPORT ON EMERGENCY AID TO LADAKHI FLOOD VICTIMS FROM KHENPO RANGDOL of VISION HIMALAYA

r Dharma brothers and sisters,
Greetings from Vision Himalaya! I bow to all the Buddhas,
Bodhisattvas and Dharma protectors. May they guide me in all actions for the benefit of all sentient beings! The response to our appeal for funds to help the victims of the flash floods in Ladakh has been overwhelming. We are deeply touched by the kindness and generosity shown by you in our hour of need.
So far we received donations from Rigul trust six thousand pound.
I would like to extend my deepest heartfelt thanks to all the donors from the bottom of my heart for coming forward to help the Ladakhi people.
Immediate relief aid has reached almost all the flood hit villages. Houses are being built for the affected families and they are being provided with essential items for the winter months.
We now need to focus upon long term rehabilitation.
Our long term rehabilitation plans for each village community include the
installation of a solar dryer, a hydraulic ram pump for field irrigation, a dual
purpose green house, an improved water mill and massive tree plantation to prevent soil erosion. This community rehabilitation is expected to cost 8318 Euros per village.
As you know that I will be going to Ladakh on the 10th of September and we will be updating our websites so that our work with the flood affected families can be viewed easily by our donors and well wishers.
